EARTHWORK and Excavation are similar but can mean different things in the world of construction; which means the process, art, or manner of constructing something. Earthwork is simply moving dirt from one spot to another and sculpting or grading soil into a new shape or condition. In many cases Excavation is required to loosen, remove, and manage the earth volumes during the building process.
